ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
ID pointers: Local specimens previously recorded have been of the Melanic form so could easily be confused with other Highflyer species. Generally told by slightly longer, relatively narrower forewing. Sometimes a paler, whitish-grey central cross-band. Reddish forms are distinctive.
Distribution:  Current status unknown but very few records, indicating it is either rare or under recorded. Plenty of suitable moorland habitat where it was recorded from in the 50’s & 60’s. Only 7 20th century records.
General Comment: None
Flight Period: May /  June –  On the wing between May – June. Moth Activity: Nocturnal  Crepuscular  – attracted to light and adults are active from dusk onwards in May and June. Photographed: No –  Photographed By: Not Recorded
