ID Difficulty:  green  – easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: A very distinctive species. Large size, purplish-brown with scalloped outer edge of wings. Resting posture and a prominent snout are diagnostic.
Distribution:  (Last record: 1956 at Drakelow )  –  A former resident that is now almost certainly extinct in Derbyshire. No recent records since 1956.
