Confusion Species:  Cochylidia implicitana (Chamomile Straw)
ID pointers: It shows a similar appearance to the rarer F. degreyana, but has a broader median fascia edged with whitish, and lacks the rosy flush usually present in that species. The moth’s forewings vary in colour from whitish to reddish-brown, featuring a wide, slanted, dark brown cross-band (median fascia) that is narrowly edged with white on both sides. A distinguishing feature is the orange-brown cilia (fringes) on the termen (outer edge) of the wing, which gives the moth its common name.
