Other Name/s: Italian Bark Moth
ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  M. cinnamomea
ID pointers: The forewing is an orange-reddish-brown. A yellowish spot is located along the costa and a pale yellow streak from the wing base to the dorsum, containing a brownish patch.
Distribution:  (Last record: 6 September 2024 at Cromford )  –  First recorded in Britain in 2003, otherwise known only in Italy, so likely to have been introduced. Since then it has spread to over a dozen counties in the south of England and is now known to be a breeding resident. Derbyshire status likely to be spreading.
