Distribution:  (Last record: 29 August 2025 at Longdendale )  –  Uncertain due to insufficient data, just 3 records prior to 2010 – Leaf mine Longdendale 29/8/2025
General Comment: Notes by Christian Heintzen on image dated 29/8/2025 –  on Birch (Betula) > gallery starting with a yellowish oviposition scar near midrib (a) > gallery abruptly widening into an initially squarish blotch (b) > frass in spaghetti-like threads ©
Flight Period: April /  May –  Adults are day-flying and can be seen from late April into May, often around their food source. Mine Period:  June /  July /  August
Mine Period Additional: Larvae mine the leaves of Birch
Mine ID Difficulty:  Amber Mine Leaf – Care required in ID process as confusion with similar leaf mines. Quality photos of the mine required.
Mine Type/s:  Gallery, Blotch
Mine Feeding Method/s: Not Recorded
Mine Comment: The larvae create distinctive leaf mines within the birch leaves from mid-June into August. The mine begins as a narrow gallery, often near the midrib, which then widens abruptly into a blotch filled with long, filament-like threads of frass.
