A new species of Macro Moth for VC57 Derbyshire

A new species of macro moth for VC57 Derbyshire was brought to my attention via the recorder. Upon investigation on iRecorder the data had been processed by another person outside of our Verification team. The moth concerned was a Kent Black Arches that had been trapped at Drakelow Reserve (VC57 and not the Staffordshire side) on 28th June 2025 by M.Williams (per iRecord). A photograph was taken of the individual and has kindly been sent for use on the website. The species is distinctive and is classed as Nationally Scarce B. It has recently been recorded in nearby Leicestershire and may well be on the move into our county. Any future records must be accompanied by a photograph due to its rarity in our recording area. This species takes the Derbyshire Macro List to 578.
