ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Brindled Beauty
ID pointers: Smaller than its relative (Brindled Beauty). A rather narrow and tapering forewing, with chequered fringes and a pale panel along the trailing edge to the forewing. Usually two dark brown wavy cross- lines are noticeable with the outer being somewhat jagged. Some specimens can be entirely dark. The female is wingless. A woodland species
Distribution:  (Last record: 18 March 2010 at Midway )  –  Last recorded 2010. The first record for over 100 years in Derbyshire was trapped at Midway, in the south of the county, on 18th March 2010.
