Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Geometridae ID Difficulty:  amber  - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Brindled Beauty
ID pointers: Flies early in the year than Brindled Beauty. Rests with wings flat and open. Appears paler than Brindled Beauty and lacks prominent black cross-lines. The dark brindle markings vary in extent. 
Distribution:  Throughout Derbyshire this moth is locally common and well distributed. Present in highest densities in remnants of ancient woodlands in the south of the county. Melanic forms do occur and predominate in all areas.
