ID Difficulty: - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: As the name suggests, the central cross-band is either broken or pinched-in. The cross-band patches are edged in intense white as is the basal area making the identification of the species fairly diagnostic.
Distribution: A resident species that is locally common and widely distributed in well wooded sites in the county. Highest numbers seem to be located in the Trent valley.
Flight Period: May / June / July / - On the wing between May – July.
Moth Activity: Nocturnal - and is attracted to light
