Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Geometridae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: Very distinctive with ground colour being a creamy white. The obvious dark purple-black central cross-band is diagnostic. Christian Heintzen has provided a plate showing comparison patterns of Purple Bar trapped during May 2024.
Distribution:  A resident species, that is widely distributed but generally uncommon in Derbyshire. It is mainly found in the Peak District. The population levels are lowest in the south and central areas of the county.
