- Generally Common / Widespread
ID pointers: An attractive spring moth that is medium sized and distinctive. The ground colour is a rusty brown with darker brown patches and a middle cross-band. The species name comes from the patterning which can be a variety of straw yellow, copper, grey and brown markings across the forewing. There is also a small white “V” shape in the centre of the trailing edge of the somewhat pointed forewing.
Distribution: A resident species, but locally common. It is widely distributed throughout Derbyshire and is fairly common in woodlands and hedgerows where wild roses grow.
Forewing: 14-18mm
