ID Difficulty:
- easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: A distinctive carpet moth as no other species has the colour combination of yellow & orange cross bands and wing colour. The intensity of colour is very variable.
Distribution: A resident species, but not generally common. It is widely distributed throughout Derbyshire and is recorded in low numbers at most sites where it occurs.
Flight Period: June / July / August / - On the wing between June – August. One Generation – Flies by day as well as being nocturnal
Moth Activity: Diurnal - and is attracted to light
