Green -  Rare / Uncommon / Scarce        day-flying - Day-flying
Taxonomy:   Macro  >> . >>  Lasiocampidae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: The male moth is richly coloured red-brown with diagnostic white parallel lines across 
the forewing. The female is a more drab grey-brown with less prominent line markings.
Distribution:  (Last record: 29/10/2024 at Curbar Edge )  -  A resident, widely distributed & locally abundant on the moorlands of North Derbyshire. 
The adult moths are rarely seen. Most records submitted are of caterpillars.
Flight Period: May /  June /  -  On the wing – June. Male flies rapidly by day and often comes to light. Female is strictly nocturnal and can be frequent at light traps.
