ID Difficulty:  green  – easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: The characteristic orange hind-wing, bordered dark brown, is easily seen in flight. Forewing is dark yellowish brown. Markings are a dark purplish brown including and oblique cross-band, at about half way and darker patches towards the apex.
Distribution:  (Last record: 10 November 2024 at Wingerworth )  –  Very few records would indicate this is an uncommon and localised species across the county
