ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Agonopterix subpropinquella
ID pointers: As with most of the Agonopterix group the moth rests flat with overlapping wings, hence the common name “Flat-body”. An arched costa and rounded apex. The forewings are pale greyish or brownish with an obvious dark blackish blob on each forewing and a pair of small spots above each blob. A creamy brown patch at the wing base extending a little way onto the costa.

Mine Period Additional: The larvae mine the underside of the leaf of the food plant, until a late instar where it feeds in a web under the midrib of the leaf, causing visible blotching on the upper-side.
