ID Difficulty: - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: Main ID feature – long black streak, extending into the wing from the forewing base, with further bold white band that extends along the leading edge. A fairly diagnostic, thick-set Wainscot.
Distribution: A resident that is widely distributed and locally common, with the exception of the Peak Grit area, where it is quite rare.
Flight Period: June / July / August / - On the wing mid June – August
Moth Activity: Nocturnal - and is attracted to light
