ID Difficulty: - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: A darkish brown ground colour with intricate markings of lighter yellows, ochre and silvery hues incorporated into several cross-bands. The moth gets its name from the gap or lacuna in the middle of the median fascia.
Distribution: Very common and widespread across the county.
Flight Period: May / June / July / August / September / - On the wing during May – September.
Moth Activity: Nocturnal Crepuscular - is often seen during the day
