ID Difficulty: - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: The characteristic orange hind-wing, bordered dark brown, is easily seen in flight. Forewing is dark yellowish brown. Markings are a dark purplish brown including and oblique cross-band, at about half way and darker patches towards the apex.
Distribution: Common and widespread in most areas of the county.
Flight Period: January / February / March / April / May / June / July / August / September / October / November / December / - On the wing all year round in two generations.
Moth Activity: Diurnal - flying by day in the sunshine
