Taxonomy:   Micro  >>  Depressariidae Other Name/s: Black-spot Flat-body ID Difficulty:  amber  - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Agonopterix subpropinquella
ID pointers: As with most of the Agonopterix group the moth rests flat with overlapping wings, hence the common name “Flat-body”. An arched costa and rounded apex. The forewings are pale greyish or brownish with an obvious dark blackish blob on each forewing and a pair of small spots above each blob. A creamy brown patch at the wing base extending a little way onto the costa.
Distribution:  (Last record: 06/05/2021 at Allestree )  -  Unknown insufficient data – Less than half a dozen records since 1981
Flight Period: January /  February /  April /  May /  June /  July /  August /  September /  October /  November /  December /  -  Can be found on the wing all year round.  - The larvae mine the underside of the leaf of the food plant, until a late instar where it feeds in a web under the midrib of the leaf, causing visible blotching on the upper-side.
