- Generally Common / Widespread

ID pointers: A small triangular shaped moth, that gets its name from the straw-brown ground colour to the forewing, with a large blackish-brown kidney mark in the central area of the wing close to the leading edge (under a lens the colour is revealed as purplish-black). The outer edge shows an orange-brown semi-smudged cross-band with small white dots forming an outer line. An unmistakable little moth.
Distribution: In 1986 described as uncommon and locally distributed in Derbyshire. It is now a common moth and well distributed across the county, being widespread from the Trent valley through the coal measures to the Limestone region in the north east. Also recorded from the north west region west of the Pennines.
