Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Noctuidae ID Difficulty:  amber  - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Acleris Micro moth
ID pointers: A small and very variable species. Very much like an Acleris micro moth. Narrow and steeply arched forewing, with a straight leading edge and curved outer edge to a pointed tip. Markings quite varied – grey-brown to orange brown, with a variety of cross-bands; an all blackish variety and a rarer variety with broad tawny band & blackish streak running down through the wing.
Distribution:  (First record: 1987 )  -  (Last record: 30/10/2024 at Belper )  -  Now a resident that is uncommon and locally distributed in Derbyshire. Only spasmodically recorded primarily from sites in the south of the county.
