ID Difficulty: - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: The ground colour is mainly sandy-brown or greyish-brown and forewing rather plain, save for the obvious pale oval and kidney marks and a slightly branched basal streak, helping to make this moth easy to identify. The forewing can sometimes have a reddish tinge.
Distribution: A resident that is generally common and widely distributed in Derbyshire. Present in all areas of the county, with main populations in the lowlands and on the Coal Measures.
Flight Period: May / June / July / - On the wing May – July.
Moth Activity: Nocturnal - and is attracted to light
