Taxonomy:   Macro  >> . >>  Noctuidae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: Very variable in ground colour from a warm chestnut-brown through dark brown, pale greyish-straw and orange greyish-yellow. There is nearly always a small dark dash towards the wing tip and several dark marks along the forewing leading edge, forming a string of beads effect (Hence name). The Oval and kidney marks are usually dark centred and narrow in appearance.
Distribution:   A resident that is common and widely distributed throughout Derbyshire. Another very abundant autumn species, especially in the southern and eastern lowlands. Fewer numbers in the northern areas of the county.
