Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Noctuidae ID Difficulty:  amber  - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Bordered Gothic (Heliophobus reticulata) and the Feathered Gothic (Tholera decimalis).
ID pointers: A chunky looking and broad-winged species. Greyish-brown with darker brown and black marbling, strong whitish veins and cross-lines creating a netted effect over the rounded forewing. A prominent oval and kidney mark.
Distribution:  (Last record: 22/07/2024 at Stonebroom )  -  A resident species that is widely distributed but generally uncommon throughout Derbyshire. Only recorded in small numbers, so a species that may be in trouble.
