Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Noctuidae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: A slim and narrow-winged moth with three pairs of distinctive black markings near the leading edge of the wing. The ground colour can be variable and ranges from a silver-grey, dark grey to reddish brown and a pale sandy yellow. The black marks border the kidney & oval marks which are emphasised more in the darker colour variant.
Distribution:  (Last record: 01/09/2024 at Glossop )  -   A resident that is widely distributed and found during the autumn months in Derbyshire. Mainly a moorland/heathland species and is trapped in reasonable numbers on the moorlands. In some areas it could be classed as fairly common but could be on the decline and is rarely encountered away from favoured habitats.
