- Generally Common / Widespread - Day-flying
ID pointers: The size varies with late emergence, being very small. Some specimens can be intensely marked with striking reddish-brown markings near the edges of otherwise brownish-whitish forewings. There are also two fine whitish cross-bands edged in black running through the forewing, which give this moth its name.
Distribution: A resident species that is locally distributed and generally uncommon throughout Derbyshire. Seems to be well established in the south of the county.
Forewing: 8-10mm
