Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Geometridae ID Difficulty:  amber  - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Green Pug (Pasiphila rectangulata)
ID pointers: Very distinctive and unlikely to be confused with any other Pug species. The shape of the wing at rest and the bold black V shaped marking in the forewing are diagnostic. The ground colour is greenish when fresh and this can fade to a yellowish fawn with age. The abdomen is also green with a distinctive black “Belt shaped” marking and two rows of parallel black spots.
Distribution:  A resident species, widely distributed but generally uncommon throughout Derbyshire. Recorded in small numbers each year.
