Blue -  Generally Common / Widespread   
Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Geometridae ID Difficulty:  amber  - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  The dark grey form – ab. obscurissima
ID pointers: A brownish-grey pug which has a conspicuous black central spot on the forewing. Ground colour is darkest at the wing base, leading edge and outer border. Various wavy cross-lines. As with a number of Pug species, melanic forms occur, which require close inspection in order to determine the ID.
Distribution:  A resident and widely distributed species that is not uncommon across Derbyshire, especially the northern half of the county. Probably under recorded as it is not an easy Pug species to identify.
