ID Difficulty: - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
ID pointers: A large reddish-brown coloured Pug, with prominent black spots on leading edge of forewing. A large central spot and whitish trailing edge corner spots. All vary in size and the wing is somewhat elongated in appearance. The abdomen has a black band across it.
Distribution: A resident species and widely distributed and locally common throughout Derbyshire. Recorded from all areas of the county. Highest densities are found on industrial wasteland sites in the south and east Derbyshire.
Flight Period: June / July / - On the wing June – July.
Moth Activity: Nocturnal - and is attracted to light
