Blue -  Generally Common / Widespread   
Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Geometridae ID Difficulty:  amber  - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Pine Carpet, Grey Pine Carpet
ID pointers: Variable in ground colour from light grey-brown to blackish-grey often intensely marked and dusted in white especially either side of the cross-band. The central cross-band is usually dark in colour with numerous oval shapes and narrows towards the trailing edge of the wing.
Distribution:  A resident species that was only first recorded in Derbyshire in 1991. By 1997 it had spread widely throughout the county and is now thought to be a common species.
