Confusion Species: Dark-marbled Carpet
ID pointers: Can be confused with Dark Marbled Carpet. It is very variable in patterning and colour and one form has a large unmistakeable orange-brown patch on the forewing. The central cross-band is narrow and does not have such a long and pointed central projection as in Dark marbled Carpet.
Distribution: A resident species that is common and widely distributed throughout Derbyshire.
Flight Period: May / June / July / August / September / October / - On the wing between May – July and August-October.
Moth Activity: Nocturnal - and is attracted to light
