ID pointers: Larger than other related species. Pale cream in colour with a crimson red straight cross-line from wing tip to trailing forewing edge. Crimson red borders to hind wing and forewing are diagnostic.
Distribution: A resident species being fairly common and widely distributed in lowland Derbyshire. Recorded annually but becomes progressively scarcer north of the Trent valley. Possibly a declining species in the county.
