Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Cossidae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: The moth is diagnostic, having two rows of three black spots on a big white furry thorax. The wings are delicate almost transparent, white and covered in black, dalmatian like spots. The male has comb-like antennae.
Distribution:  A scarce species that is widely distributed throughout Derbyshire, apart from the extreme north and northwest of the county. Normally recored in ones or twos, rarely in numbers.
