New VC57 Derbyshire moth species update

In recent months there have been six new micro moth additions and two new macro moths additions to the Derbyshire Moth List, taking the total number of species recorded in VC57 Derbyshire to 1,529 ( 598 macro and 931 micro).

During July micros added were 17th June 2026 Cochylidia rupicola – Cromford Canal; 9th July 2026  Blastobasis rebeli – Cromford and 21st July 2026 –Sitochroa verticalis – Wyver Lane NP, Belper. So far in August  Bucculatrix ulmifoliae (Leaf Mines), Cydia amplana and Ancylotis oblitella have also been added.

Macros, which tend  to be more difficult to get new species, were Plumed Fan-foot on 17th July from Long Eaton and Sharp-angled Peacock on 3rd July from Belper. Many thanks to the recorders for discovering the moths and to the photographers for the use of their images portraying the new species.
