September’s Moth of the Month must surely go the Clancy’s Rustic. A species that has been expected to arrive in Derbyshire for sometime. With seven individuals in a week, from Sandiacre, Belper and Findern, one assumes they must relate to immigrants, due to the supporting species that were being trapped at the time. Emily Milnes posted the first record on 22nd September from Sandiacre, following shortly by Dave Evan’s posting one from his Belper moth trap also on 22nd September. A third individual recorded by Ann Wood from Sandiacre on 28th, another three recorded by Emily Milnes on 29th and one recorded by Brian Hallam from Findern also on 29th. It will be interesting to see if Clancy’s Rustic is in fact a new colonist to Derbyshire.
