Matt Leedell, from Belper, recorded an adult Musotima nitidalis, Marbled Fern, from his overnight garden light trap on 5th November 2026. This is the first record of this adventive species for VC57 Derbyshire. A native of Australia and New Zealand, it was first recorded in Britain from Dorset in 2009. Thought to have been imported in consignments of horticultural Tree Ferns, it has since spread widely across the UK, with records from as far north as Yorkshire and also from nearby Leicestershire. A very nice addition to the county’s micro moth list.
