A new species of macro moth for VC57 Derbyshire was recorded on 22nd September 2026. Clancy’s Rustic was added to the county moth list, with two individuals being discovered in moth traps at Sandiacre by Emily Milnes and Belper by Dave Evans.
A species that has been predicted to arrive in the county after what appears to be either a recent influx of immigrants, or a range expansion. There has been a number recorded in counties that border Derbyshire during recent weeks and months, so it was inevitable that we would record one sooner or later.
