ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.

ID pointers: The adults are difficult to tell apart from other Phyllocnistis. Best reared through from the larvae for positive ID
Distribution:  (First record: 17 September 2025 at Erewash Canal )  –  (Last record: 17 September 2025 at Erewash Canal )  –  First recorded in Briatin in 1974 from Kent, now spreading northwards. A first record of the Leaf Mine 17/9/2025 from Erewash Canal.
Flight Period: January /  February /  March /  April /  May /  July /  August /  September /  October /  November /  December /  –  Fly in two generations July – Sept and then second brood probably overwintering. Mine Period: June /  July /  August /  September /   – A snail like mine across the upper surface of the leaf.
