ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Apotomis betuletana (Birch Marble); Apotomis sauciana
(Least Marble)
ID pointers: A similar looking moth to A.betuletana but can usually be distinguished by the stronger hook-like projection of the white median fascia into the black of the forewing. The median fascia is also more concave whereas it is straight in A.betuletana. Small black dots are also present in the wing tip area (subterminal fascia).
Distribution:  (Last record: 8 November 2024 )  –  Scarce to uncommon with few records available – Harrison & Sterling didn’t list the species in 1986 – A DanES record from Chesterfield 6/8/1994; 4 records on iRecord 2014,2019 & 2 on 2024; one from Millstone Edhe 19/8/2020.
