Confusion Species: Apotomis capreana Apotomis turbidana
ID pointers: Two thirds of the forewing are blackish-grey or brown, intricately marked with pale greys, blues and dark browns. The outer edge often has a “Hook-tip” indentation marking into the white. Dorsal third white or creamy white also marked with pale grey-blue. A large scale tuft at base of forewing.
Distribution: Widespread and often common across the county and found on Birch.
Flight Period: July / August / September / - On the wing during July – September.
Moth Activity: Nocturnal Crepuscular - and is attracted to light
