ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Bucculatrix ulmella
ID pointers: The head is pale fuscous, mixed in middle with blackish. Forewings are brownish-whitish, covered in small spots of dark fuscous; a more or less distinct dark streak along fold from base to near middle, often incomplete; three oblique costal spots between 1/3 and apex, and a median dorsal spot gradually spread dark fuscous: second discal stigma forming a short blackish dash. Hind-wings are grey.
Distribution:  (First record: 1987 at Edale )  –  (Last record: 27 July 2025 at Kings Newton )  –  two records 1987 from Repton & Edale – reported as fairly common – Ist record since 1987 – one 16/6/2018 Long Eaton and one attracted to light at Kings Newton 27th/28th July 2025
