ID Difficulty:  Red – difficult to identify – detailed examination required, often a Gen Det and/or specimen and quality photographs are required.
ID pointers: The moth gets its name from the forewing which is a deep metallic bronze and purple sheen crossed by 3 broad gold-brassy fascia.
Distribution:  (Last record: 2008 at Monks Dale )  –  Uncertain due to insufficient data – 2 records – 14/9/2008 from Monks Dale (Leaf Mines). Likely to be a localised species where the food plant, Agrimony, exists.

Flight Period: May /  August –  Two generations – May with larva in July – and then August with larva found in Sept-Nov. Mine Period:  July /  September /  October /  November

Mine Comment: The larva create a characteristic mine that starts as a slender, often straight gallery, which then abruptly widens into a large blotch. The frass is black and initially lies in a narrow central line within the gallery section.
