ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Neocochylis hybridella, Cochylichroa atricapitana
ID pointers: Head white with a dark grey thorax. Forewing whitsh with pale brown or dark grey suffusion. A blackish basal cross-band that extends slightly along the costa. A blackish mark along the costa and another larger blackish blotch at the termen. One of three similar looking species.
A good guide for the other three “lookalikes” – N.hybridella Head & Palps – White / Thorax – White
C.atricapitana Head & Palps Blackish / Thorax – Blackish
N.molliculana Head & Palps – Brown / Thorax – variable mix of White.
