Taxonomy:   Macro   >>  Geometridae  >> Ennominae
ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Common White Wave; Common Wave
ID pointers: Heavily marked with diagonal dark cross-lines on forewing and horizontal cross-lines on upper hind wing, and fine speckling over a silver grey-brown ground colour. Rather pointed wing tips. Male has long and broad feathery antennae. Strength of markings can be very variable
Distribution:  (Last record: 16 June 2022 )  –  A new species for Derbyshire that is very locally distributed in Britain away from southern England. Maybe a new colonist from populations in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. One trapped on 16 June 2022 from Newhall.
