Taxonomy:   Macro  >>.  >>  Geometridae  >> Ennominae
ID Difficulty:  green  – easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: Fairly distinctive “Carpet” moth, no similar species – The ground colour is a creamy white with dark shoulder patches at base of forewing. A further dark brownish/grey patch about two thirds along forewing edge and another in the central area of the upper forewing. These blotches refer to the “scorched” appearance but this is more obvious on the underside, which is suffused with reddish-brown. 
Distribution:  (Last record: 23 July 2025 at Cromford )  –  A resident that is scarce and locally distributed in Derbyshire. 
General Comment: Two over-lapping generations – April – June and July – September.
