Brown –  Significant Record / Very Rare / Vagrant        orange – Migrant
Taxonomy:   Macro   >>  Sphingidae  >> Macroglossinae
ID Difficulty:  green  – easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: Unmistakable. A powerful and striking looking moth with V shaped wings showing pale cream panels and white stripes running diagonally through the olive brown forewings. Black and white bands run through the abdomen.
Distribution:  (Last record: 20 May 2022 )  –  A rare migrant species to Derbyshire. Four previous records, the last one being in 1947. This one trapped in an Allestree garden overnight of the 19th May 2022. Many thanks to Bill Grange for allowing me to use his superb image.
