ID Difficulty:
- easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: An unmistakable hawk-moth. Very attractively marked with bright pink and olive green. The abdomen is particularly striking.
Distribution: A resident species that is generally common and widespread throughout Derbyshire, especially in the southern Trent Valley area.
Flight Period: May / June / July / August / - On the wing May – August – sometimes fresh adults can be seen during late summer.
Moth Activity: Nocturnal - and is attracted to light
