Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Noctuidae ID Difficulty:  amber  - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
ID pointers: Highly variable but characterised by  a rather broad , angular and fairly pointed forewing. A constant feature are the small number of arrowhead markings before the outermost cross-line, also a dark-outlined tooth-shaped or bullet-shaped marking in the central area.
Distribution:  (Last record: 14/05/2024 at Staveley )  -  Uncommon and locally distributed in Derbyshire. Low density populations exist in the Trent Valley, Coal Measures, Carboniferous Limestone and Magnesium Limestone areas. Two recent records one from 2021 and one from 2024.
