ID pointers: Unmistakeable – A delicate species with a compact wingspan. It features a clean, light yellow or cream-coloured basal half, split sharply by a straight line from a rich, pink-purple outer half.
Distribution:
A first record for VC57 of this beautiful moth was attracted to MV light at Belper overnight on 18th August 2026.
General Comment: First noted in Britain when an individual was trapped at Portland, Dorset in August 2004. Historically a rare visitor to the UK, but driven by shifting climate patterns, it has become an increasingly common migrant across the southern counties of England. In recent years large influxes are reported and the species may actively be attempting to colonise the British coastline.
