ID Difficulty: - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: Fairly distinctive looking. The forewing is reddish-brown to dark brown with two silvery-grey cross bands. An obvious dark brown or reddish brown triangular patch at the wing tip.
Distribution: Widely distributed and locally common across the county, on Hawthorn.
Flight Period: June / July / - On the wing during June – July
Moth Activity: Nocturnal - and is attracted to light
